Miami Brights

As I think I have mentioned before, I have a tendency to get the wet weather blues, and since it looks like the torrential rain is set in for the week-end in Sydney, its particularly bad this Friday afternoon.  In an effort to brighten my day I looked for the brightest apartment I could find, and its hard to imagine ever feeling depressed in this Miami condo by John Barman!

John Barman was listed in Architectural Digest’s 2012 top 100 talents in Architecture & Interior Design, his interior’s feature modern, bright spaces with colourful palettes and a definite 70’s feel.

The double height condo was previously an office space, it was opened up to allow ocean views from all rooms.  The architectural elements were largely left white, allowing the ocean and the coloured furniture to really pop.  The bright furniture is complemented by vintage style accessories.

The compact kitchen is streamlined and largely concealed behind white doors, blending it into the wall.  The bright accessories on the bench appear almost like a brightly coloured artwork.

The bedroom follows the same theme as the rest of the apartment, although the large furnishings have been left white, allowing the print and the rug to take centre stage, carefully accented with the lamps and accessories on the dresser.

The bathroom is a simple space, but what an incredible view, imagine showering their in the morning!

The second bedroom is cleverly done, featuring a day bed making it useful as a second living room or a bedroom.  The mustard yellow matched the incredible double height sliding door that separates this space from the main living room.  The rice paper pendants are perfect for the airy & simple architecture of the room.
