How To Style Your Sofa

Buying a good quality leather sofa is a major investment, so it’s important to buy one that is going to last you for a few years. Home decor trends come and go, and while we can sometimes feel that our lounge rooms need a little updating to keep up, it’s not easy to just run out and purchase another sofa. So why not update the look of your sofa by adding a few bright cushions or a new patterned rug? We’ve put together three different looks inspired by current design trends, along with three different leather sofas from Beyond Furniture, to help you to rejuvenate the look of your lounge room.

Moroccan Style

Moroccan style is welcoming, warm, inexpensive and relatively easy to pull together. Think bright and bold colours, woven throw rugs, lanterns and metallic accessories. Adding a little colour to your lounge room will do wonders. We’ve taken the handsome Sorano leather sofa, and transformed it by adding a few key accessories to give it that lively Moroccan feel. Luckily, classic tan leather sofas have the incredible ability to suit many different home decor styles, and this is no exception. The black and white zig zag rug and gold side table truly accentuate the beautiful tan colour of the Sorano leather sofa.

Black & White

A monochrome colour palette can be beautiful and dramatic, and keeps styling your lounge room relatively simple. If you love the look but aren’t sure how to go about achieving it, here’s a tip from designer Lisa Canning. “Keep two-thirds of the room white (paint, furniture, etc.), and one-third of the room black (accessories, accent pieces). This will help create balance and keep the room feeling fresh and airy.” Embrace cushions that fit tonally and use repetition, like the ones below. This style works for both contemporary and traditional settings, and looks amazing with the Pradi-1 white leather sofa due to its minimalistic and sleek style.

Traditional design doesn’t have to be stuffy and outdated. You can mix great handcrafted upholstery, trunks and case goods with modern lamps and soft furnishings to create a look that’s both bold and classic. Look for furniture in traditional shapes and use symmetry and matched pairs to arrange them in a classic way. The mood board below takes on nautical and traditional themes, but reinterprets them for the present day. By anchoring the style with a classic chaise sofa, such as the Fiori leather sofa in chocolate brown, and adding both modern and vintage accessories, the result is extremely elegant and stylish.
