Grey, Blush and White – A Stockholm Apartment
The serene apartment in Stockholm has a distinctly Scandi aesthetic, with a warm and welcoming interior that belies its relatively industrial surroundings. The compact penthouse apartment is on its own floor, and configured in a square around the central stair access. This layout ensures lots of natural light, and long private balconies that run the length on 2 sides.
The clever layout has bedrooms at one end, and the living spaces at the other end. The galley style kitchen is tucked into the connecting space. The apartment is contemporary with clean white walls and light timber flooring, lots of built in storage is integrated with a storage wall on either end in a consistent warm grey that really warms up the space, the storage walls also serve to define the different zones.
The galley style kitchen is tucked into the hallway space between the bedroom end and the living end. The kitchen features lots of natural light, loads of storage tucked behind grey doors and a grey marble effect splash back.
The hallway on the other side is left minimal with a gorgeous storage sideboard in grey and a gallery wall. Looking through to the living room, the overall feel is spacious, light and bright. The wall of windows has sheer white curtains that run the full length of the hall and living room.
The living room feature a casual aesthetic typical of the Scandi style, created through the unstructured placement of a relaxed chaise sofa in a welcoming light fabric, a marble coffee table and a feature chair. White frames and multiple floor lamps add character, and the large area rug ties the room together. For a similar look, check out the Osaka sofa in fabric from BoConcept, the Rosy Angelis F floor lamp by Flos, and the Arco floor lamp by Flos (or check out Matt Blatt for a replica version here).
The dining room features a beautiful large timber dining table with seating for 8. The addition on rose blush and copper dining series 7 chairs is perfect, it’s the perfect complement to the mostly white and grey interior, it adds character and warmth. The charcoal and timber DFSW Eames chairs ties the timber table into the room. The Zettel’s 5 Pendant hanging over the dining table is stunning, it’s soft and very Scandi – find one here (real) or a replica version at Sokol.
The bedroom is small, so is kept minimal with a gorgeous grey linen headboard and grey linen bedding. The only other furnishing is the single white bedside. The walls are kept bare, but the addition of a soft grey linen to the white curtains prevents the room feeling sparse. The grey storage wall appears again here in the form of a wardrobe, providing plenty of storage.
The bathroom is sleek in grey and white, and again features generous storage. The addition of the timber ladder which serves as a divider between the basin and the toilet, and as a handy place to pop a hand towel.
There’s a huge amount of outdoor space with 2 balconies running the full length of the apartment. Kept simple, the furnishings are black and white in keeping with the industrial black exterior.
