Get The Look: The Block
This year’s The Block has been an absolute roller coaster for some of the teams, however each room reveal from this season has been the most impressive we’ve seen so far! There’s no doubt that the biggest curve ball thrown at the contestants was that they’d be working on an enormous warehouse … but, they’ve managed to churn out some pretty impressive rooms each and every week despite all of the obstacles. There’s definitely been a theme running this year with the style of the rooms being of an industrial look, with a few added rustic elements in the mix. As we’ve seen before, the trick is to keep things relatively simple with a few ‘wow’ factors to really inspire the buyers. A few of my favourite elements so far seen on The Block are the high ceilings, expansive voids, timber feature walls, abstract art and intricate pendants. Scroll down to find out how to ‘get the look’ of some of the contestants’ rooms!
ALISA AND LYSANDRA’S LIVING AND DINING ROOMS
1. Beyond Furniture Pelle Single Leather Armchair $1950 2. Unearth Cushion Cover $129 each 3. Beyond Furniture Sorano Leather Sofa 4 Seater $4995 4. Freedom Pot Plant $49.95 5. BoConcept Lugo Coffee Table $499
Scott Cam said they thought their apartment had “the potential to be the most exciting property ever delivered on The Block”. And I agree! Alisa and Lysandra’s planning for the living and dining rooms was absolute genius, and I just love the warmth of their living space – the inviting tan leather sofa with quilting details, the retro armchairs, simple glass coffee table and watercolour cushions. Perhaps a more impressive rug could have been used, but what the hay, it still looks fabulous!
KYAL AND KARA’S MASTER BEDROOM
Finally a room reveal win! Kyal and Kara have to be my absolute favourites on The Block this year! Their style has such a natural and raw feel to it, with perhaps a little influence from the industrial trend. The furnishings and accessories they’ve styled their rooms with are always winners, and are always definitely on trend. The bed they chose for the master bedroom has a lovely grey fabric headboard, which gives the room a relaxed and inviting feel. They’ve added in some geometric and bold soft furnishings and some stunning white pendants to top off the whole look!
BRAD AND DALE’S LIVING AND DINING ROOMS
1. Lindsay Blamey Wetlands Cushion $130 2. Copper-ID Nest Pendant $895 3. Beyond Furniture Liberta Leather Lounge (*new* call 1300 11 22 33 for further details) 4. Beyond Furniture Cow Hide Zig Zag Rug from $1495 5. Coco Republic Ray Side Table $2795
The boys did a superb job of creating both a relaxed but high end look for their living and dining rooms. They kept the palette quite neutral with some added pops of colour to really ‘wow’ the judges. I just love the blue artwork by Megan Weston and the taupe and black chevron rug. The grey sofa has such a classic style, which lets you really let lose on the styling when it comes to adding cushions and soft furnishings. And you can’t go wrong with a simple zig zag rug either!
