Elegant Beach House

This is no ordinary beach house. There’s no weathered driftwood dining table, or collection of beach shells on display. This is a very different kind of beach house, one that’s contemporary, sleek and elegant. The colours used throughout the home reflect  a type of Hollywood regency, whilst the furnishings and layout are extremely modern and refined. The wooden floor boards break up these styles perfectly, adding a touch of informality to the space. The tones in this home are rich and bright, with shades of blue being the colour of choice. Pops of pink and yellow come up every now and then, creating a feast for the eyes. Read on for some more details of this beautiful coastal house, and down below we’ve put together an inspirational mood board to help you recreate the same look in your home!

In the kitchen we see a royal dark blue used for the bench, combined with a modern timber benchtop. The fusion of rich and relaxed finishes really work well together. Blue bar stools complete the look of the kitchen bench setting, and the dangling black and bronze pendants add that little extra charm to the space. The white cabinetry brightens up all of the darker tones in the kitchen, whilst reflecting the light from the windows. As a result, the kitchen appears luminous and airy, a little reminiscent of that of a traditional beach house. The smaller details, including the salt and pepper shakers and cutting boards, show the owner’s love of contemporary pieces.

As we enter into the study, one of the most remarkable elements to this room is the gravel or stone-like wall feature. The rough texture looks great next to the more refined bench top and the modern hanging light bulb pendants. Here we see a bright yellow from the bulbous table lamp, which picks up the same yellow in the artwork behind it. The study has quite a lot of the same features as the kitchen, with wooden bench and white cabinetry, and instead of that royal blue we see the bright yellow. The same theme seems to transpire as we get a look into each space of the house, as we see above with the bright red florals in the dining room.

This sleek modern house has a surprisingly warm feel in the master bedroom. Although very simplistic, the bedroom features some distinct elements that display a bit of character to the space. The bed linens are in a bold, red yellow and pink print, and are covered with a chunky bright pink woven throw. These colours perfectly contrast against the shiny metallic blue seen on the wall behind. The bathroom is extremely modern, with glossy stone tiles that dress the floor and walls, and simple wooden cabinetry.

The entrance to this coastal home is breathtaking. As seen in the rest of the house, we get another look at those beautiful hanging pendants, however here the designer has used over a dozen of them to create a feature at the entrance. Again, there is a stone-like wall and surrounding white walls, and wooden stairs that lead up to other spaces in the house. Outside is very typical of a coastal home, with wood being the main aspect here. I just love that outdoor setting with the patterned aqua cushions and cocoon like woven chairs!
