Dream Dinners – The Cube

A dinner whipped up by Michelin starred chefs in a stunning restaurant with breathtaking views in the heart of Milan sounds pretty good right? What about if that restaurant was an intimate 18 seat restaurant housed in a minimalist box with transparent glass walls and white laser cut aluminium, seemingly ‘plopped’ on the rooftop of a building in the Piazza del Duomo? That’s right, dinner just metres away from the incredible spires of the Duomo.  That’s the stuff dreams are made of! The incredible Electrolux- ‘The Cube’ restaurant was thought up by the creatives at Belgian event agency Absolute Blue,  (design of the pavilion & interior design by Italian firm Park Associati, Milan ) and kicked off in Brussels, atop the arc of the Parc du Cinquantenaire (obviously!) for four moths last year.

I was quietly cheering when I saw that the pavilion will be at its rooftop perch until the end of April, coinciding with my own Milan trip planned for April (keep your eyes peeled for more news there later), and fingers & toes were crossed when clicking on the booking page, (I was somehow hoping that an ultra cool, architect designed & Michelin starred chef ‘pop-up’ restaurant had gone unnoticed by the design crowd that will be ascending on Milan- alongside myself- for the Milan Furniture Fair – uhhhh, yeah, no such luck!), yep all booked out.  Sad face.  Oh well, I’ll still get some great shots of it, and perhaps I can catch it in its next destination, London or even Stockholm, or perhaps they will figure out a way to balance it between the sails of the Sydney Opera House or suspend it under the Harbour Bridge, now that would be impressive.
