Bathroom Beauty

Some of the most beautiful interior design examples that I have come across of late are of bathrooms that display not only a functionality but are also used to give insight into a culture, an environment, a history or simply into the occupants lives.  We usually think of a bathroom as a necessity of life but if you are looking to update or change your own bathroom think of it also as a way in which you can express beauty, culture or even yourself.

Who can go past a bathroom with charm, like this one from the island of Tinos, Greece. It’s beautiful ornate features within the mirror & side lights contrast perfectly with the natural exposed rock formations, while the blue & sand colours pull inspiration from the natural surrounding elements. Due to the molded seamless walls, it’s simplicity & symmetry is breathtaking while the baskets and dark timber shelf add a sense of warmth.

A clean simple bathroom creates a great base for adding your own personal touch. Adding a beautifully crafted chair that ties in with a feature colour expressed through ornaments and vases will create a bathroom that you enjoy and will say a little something about yourself to your friends & guests.

A more relaxed feel, this beach inspired washroom from a beautiful summer home in Portugal is the perfect example of calm. This bathroom (as well as the rest of the house) plays heavily on the natural surroundings resulting in a light, bright space that blends rustic ‘beachy’ finishes with a hint of ochre yellow & beautiful simplistic lines.

Alot of us shy away from colour in the bathroom but why not have some fun & make it a bright, bold statement. Using coloured tiles as a feature and teaming them with a contemporary, stark white stink will create impact and is guaranteed to make you smile every morning!

Creating a beautiful bathroom is all in the details, like for example these handmade Moroccan inspired tiles that generate a rustic charm. The textures and tones of the stone basin and use of timber blend perfectly with the tiles and sink-side accessories.

It seems like its all about vintage this season, and I for one am loving the old-world charm. Take this vintage insipred bathroom for example, the bath shape mixed with the detail of the faucets & the form of the chair make a great combination. The real key to this great bathroom setting though is the colour pop of burnt metalic salmon!
